YOGA RETREAT – PORTUGAL

Join me for a blissful week of yoga practice and relaxation in the peaceful Ribatejo countryside in  Portugal.  Our home for the week is Quinta Carvalhas – The Green Farm – is a Luxury retreat centre & a peaceful haven to restore & rejuvenate.  It is a lovely restored 150-year-old working farm, where traditional stone barns have been transformed into contemporary accommodation & beautiful spaces for movement practice. 

 

This week is an opportunity to allow yourself to be taken care of, to be healed & nurtured.  During our stay, we will be nourished with healthy, home-cooked, vegetarian meals, full of ingredients from their organic farm. 

 

There are plenty of indoor studios spaces for us to use as well as an outdoor studio overlooking a natural pond and wooden outdoor deck – the perfect spot for a sunset practice, picnic or swim.

 

We can enjoy the stunning meditation garden, stables and outdoor pool as well as indoor lounge areas.  There will be plenty of calm, gorgeous spaces in the extensive gardens to relax with a book or good company.  

 

This retreat is suitable for all levels of practitioners from those newer to yoga to those who wish to develop and deepen their existing practice.

 

We will spend the week in the peace of the Portuguese countryside yet only 1 hour  from Lisbon airport.

 

My hope is you leave the week feeling restored, relaxed and revitalised.

Daily Schedule:

A typical day will go something like this (although each day might vary slightly and one afternoon/day can be made free in case you wish to explore the area or go on a excursion):

  • 8.00 – 9.00 – Morning Coffee/Tea & a buffet breakfast
  • 9.15 – 10.45/11.15:  Morning practice – This will be a dynamic flow and time for quiet reflection.
  • 12.00 – 13.00 :  A three course lunch is available for you to enjoy
  • The afternoon is free for you to spend as you wish.  You are welcome to relax at the villa, take a dip in the pool, go for a walk to explore the local area or take a trip to the beach.
  • 18.00/18.30 – 19.30:  Evening workshop – Theme varies from day to day
  • 20.00: A three course dinner will be served

     

This schedule is open to change, I will amend it based on the wishes of the participants.  If you would like to join me, please do let me know your thoughts so I can be of best service to you.

 

Arrive at the venue from 3.00pm on Saturday 3rd May.  We will meet for an evening welcome practice and dinner that evening and begin the daily programme from Monday onwards.  Check out is at 11am on 8th May so we will meet for an early morning practice and breakfast before leaving the venue.

Our days begin with a light breakfast with tea and coffee. Followed by a dynamic yoga practice in one of the three fully equipped studios.  All of the studios offer incredible views!

Morning practice is followed by a delicious and nutritious brunch.  After energising and refuelling you are free for the afternoons to explore the surrounding area, take a dip in the salt-water pool or simply relax and rest.  

We will meet again for a second practice in the early evening, the theme of which will vary from day to day and may include a restorative practice, pranayama practice (breathing), yoga nidra (yogic sleep), meditation or specialized workshops such as arm balancing or inversions.  These sessions will be tailored to the wishes of the group.

After practice we will come together to savour a delicious meal before bed.

There will be the opportunity to take advantage of the other activities offered such as massage, sound therapy, art expression session, equine therapy or visit local areas and  participate in a number of excursions & activities.  Such as kayaking, exploring Obidos, visiting Caldas, paddle boarding or simply hiking in the surrounding area. 

 

Please note, the cost of these activities & trips will be extra and will be decided by the group.  You are welcome to attend or not as you wish.

This is a week for you to reconnect with yourself, meet other like-minded practitioners whilst immersing yourself in practice so that you return home revitalised and relaxed.

Each luxurious room is individually decorated and full of history & charm.  There are 16 bedrooms which you can choose to enjoy all to yourself or share with a friend, loved one or fellow yoga practitioner.   

 

If you are coming with friends let me know so I can assign you a room together.  

Coming alone but would like to share?  I am happy to pair you with someone I feel would be a good fit.


Ten rooms have en-suite bathrooms and the other 6 rooms share one bathroom per two bedrooms.  Rooms are spread over three different areas of the farm.

There is both indoor and outdoor yoga spaces:  

1.     Yoga Studio:

The shala has beautiful natural stone walls and plenty or daylight.   We have access to an extensive collection of yoga props. 

 

2.     Yoga Deck & Farm Pond: 

Located about 5-10mins walk from the main building is a gorgeous outdoor yoga deck where we can enjoy a practice out in nature.  There are views of the natural pond. 

Other Facilities: 

  •  Art Studio – where you can let your imagination run wild.  You can paint, sculpt or draw and create in this light and spacious room 
  • Blue Veranda – A quiet space inside the main house with floor to ceiling windows to enjoy views of the pool and beyond.  This is a great room to lounge, chat and relax. 
  • Meditation Garden – A calm slice of paradise with large trees, winding walkways & a koi pond and fountain.  
  • Stables – A place to admire or ride the impressive horses (horse therapy will cost extra & is not included in the retreat price)
  • Pool –  Surrounded by tall pine trees and expansive lawns you can enjoy a swim or relax by the pool.

There are daily flights from London to Lisbon.

 

From Lisbon it is about a hour drive to the venue.  

Once I have everyone’s flight details I can arrange transfers or you are welcome to arrange your own taxi or rent a car should you wish.

I will need a £500 non-refundable deposit to secure your place. 

The remaining balance is due by 8th February (12 weeks before the retreat date). 

 

You are welcome to pay the full amount on booking. If you prefer to spread the payments over time that is no problem.  

 

Cancellation Policy: 

  • The deposit is non-refundable
  • Any booking cancelled on or before 8th February 2025:
    • You will be refunded 50% of the amount paid after the non-refundable deposit and the £150 admin fee have been deducted.  
  • Any booking cancelled between 9th February and 7th March 2025:  
    • You will be refunded 20% of the amount paid after the non-refundable deposit and the £150 admin fee have been deducted.  
  • On or After 8th March 2025 the booking is non-refundable or transferable to another event. 

 

If the retreat is not able to go ahead due to Covid-19 travel restrictions then you will be able to transfer to another event or receive a refund (minus £150 admin fee).   

 

It is essential that you take out your own travel insurance so that if for some unexpected reason you are unable to attend that you are able to be compensated through your insurance.
